Hoe zorg ik dat mijn kind geen last krijgt van de scheiding?

Wanneer je relatie eindigt, staat je wereld op zijn kop. Het plaatje in je hoofd van een gelukkig gezin en een leven lang samen valt in duigen. Hoe vertel je dit aan jullie kinderen? Hoe gaan ze erop reageren en welke impact heeft dit later op ze?
Uit onderzoek blijkt dat kinderen van gescheiden ouders vaker last hebben van emotionele en gedragsproblemen (Swartz-Den Hollander et al., 2020). En bijna alle kinderen die ik spreek hebben in een bepaalde mate last van een loyaliteitsconflict; wat maakt dat een kind zich te veel aanpast en blijvend last houdt van de scheiding. Misschien ben jij je hier al gedeeltelijk bewust van en ben je daarom opzoek gegaan naar informatie en hulp bij scheiden met kinderen. Wat je waarschijnlijk gevonden hebt is informatie over het ouderschapsplan en opties voor mediation. Maar waar wordt nou echt ingegaan op de impact die een scheiding op een kind heeft?
Ik geef jullie graag informatie over hoe kinderen verschillend omgaan met deze lastige scheidingssituatie. Wat normaal of gezond is en wanneer jij je zorgen moet maken. Daarnaast deel ik hoe jij als ouder jouw kind het beste kan helpen om dit te verwerken. Mijn visie is dat een moeilijke levensgebeurtenis als deze een kans biedt voor persoonlijke groei, voor zowel de volwassenen als de kinderen.

“In het begin is scheiden nooit leuk, maar het is niet anders. Sommige ouders blijven gewoon bij elkaar, maar dat is niet fijn, dan komt er ruzie en dat maakt iedereen nog verdrietiger en ongelukkiger. Ik vond het heel moeilijk om het erover te hebben, maar nu kan ik altijd praten met mijn ouders. Ik ben er nu ook aan gewend en ik heb het heel erg naar mijn zin.”
